The question that changes everything deserves to be remembered beautifully.
There are moments in life that exist only once. The walk toward them. The anticipation. The quiet pause before you get down on one knee. The look in her eyes when she realizes what is happening — and the instant she says yes.
Your proposal is more than a question. It is the beginning of everything that comes next.
Set against the untamed beauty of Big Sur, where rugged cliffs meet the Pacific and the landscape carries an unmistakable sense of freedom, or along the quiet, romantic shores of Carmel-by-the-Sea, your proposal becomes part of a place as extraordinary as the story you are beginning together.
As your proposal photographer, my approach is intentional and unobtrusive. I’m there to preserve the experience as it unfolds naturally — the anticipation, the emotion, the embrace, the laughter, and all the fleeting details that make the moment entirely yours.
The result is more than photographs of a proposal. It is an editorial collection of memories that brings you back to exactly how it felt to stand there, together, at the beginning of your forever.
The Art of the Proposal
Choosing the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is one of the most meaningful decisions you will ever make.
The photographs should feel equally meaningful.
Whether you envision a dramatic Big Sur cliffside proposal at golden hour or an intimate, understated moment along the coastline in Carmel, every detail can be thoughtfully considered — from the location and timing to the light, the setting, and the moments that follow.
After the question has been asked and the answer is yes, we’ll take time to celebrate. We’ll wander, breathe it all in, and create portraits that feel effortless and timeless — photographs that belong not only to this moment, but to your story for years to come.

Big Sur & Carmel Proposal Photography FAQ
How does proposal photography work?
We’ll plan everything together ahead of time — from choosing the perfect location and timing to figuring out where I’ll be hiding and how I’ll signal you that it’s time. On the day of your proposal, I’ll stay discreet and capture the moment without taking away from the intimacy of it.
Where are the best places to propose in Big Sur?
Big Sur offers some of the most breathtaking proposal scenery on the California coast, from dramatic ocean overlooks and rugged cliffs to quieter, more intimate coastal locations. I can help you choose a location that fits the experience you’re envisioning and coordinate the details to make everything feel effortless.
Can you photograph proposals in Carmel-by-the-Sea?
Absolutely. Carmel-by-the-Sea is perfect if you’re looking for something a little softer and more romantic. From the beach and coastline to charming hidden corners throughout Carmel, there are beautiful options for an intimate proposal followed by portraits together.
Will my partner know you’re photographing the proposal?
No — the goal is for the photography to feel completely natural and unobtrusive. We’ll create a plan beforehand so I can be in position and ready before you pop the big question.
What happens after they say yes?
That is when the celebration begins.
After the proposal, we’ll take a little time to let the moment settle before moving into a relaxed portrait session. These photographs are less about posing and more about giving you space to enjoy being newly engaged while I document the two of you naturally.
When should I schedule our proposal?
For the most flexibility, I recommend reaching out several weeks or months in advance, particularly for weekend dates, sunset proposals, and popular coastal locations. Weekday evening locations can be less crowded.
The earlier we plan, the more thoughtfully we can design the experience around you.
What if the weather changes?
The beauty of the Central Coast comes with a little unpredictability. Fog, wind, and changing coastal light can create some of the most beautiful photographs, but we’ll always have a thoughtful backup plan should conditions require it.
